GET REAL


Get Real is a 1998 movie about a gay teenager named Steven Carter. Steven is a High School student and has always known that he is gay from an early age. He is an intelligent student but introverted and nonathletic which makes him an easy pick by bullies in school. Steven is also very handsome. His confidant is a neighboring girl Linda who has self confidence problems because of her weight and past relationships gone bad. Steven cruises for sex at a public toilet in their local park after school. One day he exchanges notes with someone through a hole dividing the toilet stalls. The person on the other side turns out to be John Dixon. John is a very popular boy in school apart from being the star in the school's track events. Steven develops a crush despite the fact that John has a girlfriend. He manages to get John home even though he runs away after a weird conversation and a near kiss with Steven. After a school dance in which the two stare intentionally at each other a homosexual affair develops. John tells Steven that he really loves him but nobody should know that he is gay. Their relationship is however put through tests by pressure from school and at home with parents. It comes to a point where John is even forced to beat Steven up just to prove that he is not gay.

EDGE OF SEVENTEEN


Eric Hunter is a teenage boy just coming to terms with his sexual orientation in this 1998 gay film. He takes up a summer job serving food at the local amusement park together with best friend Maggie. While at the job they befriend their lesbian manager Angie and a gay college student named Rod. Eric gets his first homosexual experience with Rod. Rod however moves back to Ohio leaving Eric thirsty of a boy lover on his last year in High School. A series of events including problems with financing for him to study music in college introduce Eric to the real world.

THE BROKEN HEARTS CLUB


This year 2000 movie tells the story of a group of gay friends living in West Hollywood. There is Cole who is very handsome and an actor. Cole however rubs shoulders with the others the wrong way for dating their boyfriends. Benji is the youngest in the group and is going through some tough times. He has a taste for muscular built men. Dennis the photographer is more composed and holds the group together. Howie is a psychology student who too often over thinks on issues thus denying himself happiness. There is also Patrick who always reads self interest in all situations even if they are in good faith. We have Taylor who is feeling very embarrassed after his relationship came to an end despite boasting of having the longest one. Lastly we meet Jack who owns a restaurant and is the father figure whom everybody seeks advice from. Problems start when a 23 year old named Kevin tries to fit himself into the group. It causes chaos in their friendships which are about to be put to test.

A SINGLE MAN


George Falconer is a gay college professor living in Los Angeles in this 2009 gay film. George is still grieving the loss of his longtime partner Jim eight months earlier in a road accident. The grief has got to him and he now plans to commit suicide later during the day. During the day he comes across a student named Kenny Potter who shows interest in him. Kenny follows him to the bar. They start drinking and later continue to his George's house. George passes out and wakes up to find himself in bed. He finds Kenny asleep holding George's gun to prevent him from committing suicide. He locks the gun away and decides to end his grief and move on with his life. He however suffers a heart attack and dies.

PRIEST


St. Mary's Parish in Liverpool has been assigned a new priest Father Gregg Pilkington in this 1994 film. He is shocked to discover than Father Mathew Thomas an older member of the Parish is disregarding his vow of celibacy and sleeping with a female housekeeper. Gregg has more to worry about himself because he is a homosexual. He even goes on to meet a young boy named Graham and they start a relationship. Meanwhile a female student named Lisa confides to have been sexually abused by her father. The father also confides the same. Both of them have revealed this in the confessional and so Father Gregg has to keep it a secret. He however warns Lisa's mother to keep her daughter safe without revealing why. When Lisa's mother discovers her husband has molested Lisa she recalls Gregg's warnings and confronts him for not revealing it. To add to his troubles he gets arrested for having sex with Graham in a parked car. It makes the newspapers headlines and Gregg is unable to face his congregation. He moves to a rural parish to escape the shame but Father Mathew convinces him to return amidst resistance from part of the congregation.

THE TRIP


Set in the 70s this 2002 gay movie starts with Tommy introducing himself to Alan at a party in Los Angeles. Alan is writing his anti homosexuality book and so invites Tommy to come and interview him about it. At dinner their connection becomes too intense and Alan's girlfriend Beverly leaves him suspecting it is more than an interview. Alan goes ahead to finish his book. One day Tommy comes over to his house to confront him about his calls and Alan kisses him by force. They start a relationship. Alan joins a homosexual rights organization together with Tommy. Trouble starts when his book is used to fuel anti homosexuality and it gets to be known that he is the writer. He looses his job and breaks up with Tommy and it is years later before they can reunite.

THE ONE


The One is a 2011 gay movie about a homosexual man who falls in love with a heterosexual man. Daniel is a handsome and successful investment banker with everything going well for him. He is even planning to get married to a beautiful woman named Jen. Tommy is Daniel's former classmate in college and is now openly gay. Tommy even had a crush on Daniel back in college. One day after a few drinks Tommy manages to seduce Daniel to bed. Daniel feels guilty after that incident and wants nothing to do with Tommy. Tommy is however in love even though he has been warned by his gay friends not to fall for a straight man. One friend tells Tommy "he is never going to leave her for you". Daniel is determined to go ahead and marry Jen.

THE GYMNAST


The Gymnast is a 2006 lesbian film about the life of Jane who is now in her forties. Jane was a talented gymnast in her younger years but an injury robbed her off that. She is now a massage therapist and in a very unhappy marriage. She even takes antidepressants to get by. She has however managed to keep her body very fit and young. One day she wakes up and comes to the realization that she has no children. She has already surpassed the limit of getting pregnant naturally. To have a baby artificially she would be forced to confront her husband who she has to remind to even have sex. Jane wonders into a local gym in frustration where she meets Nicole who convinces her to take part in a performance together with another woman named Serena. Serena is secretly gay or rather lesbian. She is an adopted child of Korean descent a history she also struggles to cope with. When Nicole is called away for an emergency, the two women are left to train together. Their attraction to each other grows stronger and it becomes irresistible.

THE LOVE PATIENT


The Love Patient is a 2011 gay comedy movie. A gay couple Paul and Brad broke up for an unknown reason. Paul is selfish and likes attention. He is unable to move on with his life after the breakup. He finds help inform of advice from a friend in the medical profession. He deceives his family and friends that he is suffering from cancer. This is meant to win back Brad through sympathy and affection. The comedy in the movie ensues during this period of faked illness.

LOVING ANNABELLE


Loving Annabelle is a 2006 lesbian movie about a student teacher homosexual relationship. Annabelle Tillman is the daughter of a senator. She now schools at a catholic boarding school after being expelled from two schools. Her poetry teacher Simone Bradley is still in charge of her dormitory. Simone is known for adhering to the rules and regulations of the school no matter what. Annabelle on the other hand is rebellious. It even comes to a point where Simone wants her transferred from her dormitory claiming she is unable to control her. Simone manages to convince Annabelle to comply with the school rules. Annabelle falls in love with her. Simone resists Annabelle's gay advances until they are left in school alone during spring break. Simone takes her to the beach house where Annabelle discovers her painful past. Annabelle continues her lesbian pursuit until during the annual school dance where after singing an emotional love song Simone is unable to resist and they end up making love. The Principal of the school Mother Immaculata walks in on them dressing the next morning. Simone is arrested after revealing that she had a lesbian sexual affair with Annabelle. What happens next?

LONGHORNS


Longhorns is a 2011 gay comedy whose setting is Texas in the eighties. The drama ensues in a Texas where Kevin a student who is in denial about his homosexuality meets Cesar who is open about his gay sexual orientation. Although being in denial, Kevin acts on his feelings and starts to flirt with Cesar. He does not want to seem as the chaser so he consoles himself that Cesar is making the advances even though it is him. Kevin's friend Justin clashes with Cesar while pursuing his best friend Marsha for a gay relationship. The interaction between this characters brings out the humor in this gay film. The drama even gets more interesting when Kevin escapes his relationship with Cesar for a weekend getaway with two of his best friends.

LA MISSION


This 2009 gay movie gets its title from the Mission District of San Francisco which is known to harbor many Latino residents. The film is about Che Rivera a respected former gangsta. Che is a reformed inmate and is still trying to keep off alcohol. He has managed to work hard and redeem his life including that of his only son Jes. Che was left to raise Jes himself after the death of his wife. Jes is a High School student but what his father does not know is that he is secretly gay. Homosexuality is a vice that the community in Mission District frowns at but to make matters worse his father is one who believes in being a man to survive as he has had to. Che is crushed to discover that his only son is gay. He cannot stand the shame and throws Che out of the house in a rage. A terrible incident befalls Jes and puts his father through a true test of redemption.

DTLA


DTLA is a gay tv series with the initials standing for Downtown Los Angeles which premiered in 2012. The series follows the lives and relationship between seven friends who work and live in downtown Los Angeles. It looks into love, loyalty and true friendship when it comes to gay people. The series includes gay lead characters such as Darryl Stephens who comes as Lenny. Other actors in the series are gay tv characters you got to watch from other episodes such Danny Roberts and Leslie Jordan. The executive producers of this film series are Helene Shaw, Darryl Stephens, Larry Kennar, Andres Palmieri and Mark Erickson.

BUFFERING


Buffering is a 2011 gay movie about a gay couple Seb and Aaron. They are both in great debt after spending too much than they could afford with their credit card. A brilliant idea of making extra cash pops into Aaron. He decides to film themselves as they have sex without telling Seb then post the videos online. The idea works and money starts trickling but soon Seb comes to know of it. He however goes along with it after realizing that it is a good means of making money fast. They decide to take their enterprise to another level to make more money and that is where the drama grows bigger.

JITTERS


Jitters is a 2010 gay movie about a confused sixteen year old boy named Gabriel. His controlling mother sends him for some weeks to an English language course in Manchester. He meets and befriends the roommate who happens to be very open minded, outgoing and rebellious. This introduces Gabriel to a whole new world of homosexuality. Gabriel is still confused about his sexuality and when he returns everybody notices he has changed. It is a series of events some unfortunate that introduce Gabriel to the ups and downs of life. Girls trying to get him in bed not knowing that he is gay.

AMERICAN TRANSLATION


American Translation is a 2011 gay movie about a strange love affair between Chris and Aurore a girl. Chris is a handsome boy but he has a terrible secret. Chris is a psycho sexual killer. To make it worse he also engages in homosexual affairs especially with gay prostitutes who end up as most of his victims. Like many other gay movies Chris is not comfortable with his homosexuality and is always brooding because of it. Aurore discovers this but is too in love with him to leave and only hopes to be the one to make it change or end. This film gets its title from the fact that Aurore's father does not speak French and Chris does not speak English and therefore she has to translate for them to communicate.

KICKOFF


Kickoff is a 2010 gay comedy about a gay five aside football team. Archer who is an ex soldier forms the team as it has always been his dream. The problem is that they cannot agree how much gay or flamboyant they should be. Some want to keep it under while others want to cause a scene. They are up against the most notorious team in the area. Bethnal Reapers are the hardest and rudest team comprising of outlaws such as drug dealers one of whom the police are after. The Reapers have already been given a last warning and any incident of violence will have them banned from the football league. This forces them to tolerate their gay rivals and keep their homophobia to themselves.

SUICIDE ROOM


Suicide room is a 2011 gay film about a teenager's struggle with homosexuality in school. Dominik accepts to kiss another boy Aleks in a dare play. Video footage of the kiss taken from a cell phone is posted online and many schoolmates see it. Aleks goes further to say that Dominik had an erection during their judo match to prove that he is gay. His friends isolate him and he is constantly humiliated and beaten up in school. His parents do not take it well either. Unable to deal with the homophobia and depressed he refuses to go to school and locks himself in the room all day browsing the internet. While online he is introduced to an online suicide room.

BOYS LIFE


Boys Life is a combination three short gay themed movies released in 1994. They all focus on the hardships of being gay in the United States of America like having to deal with homophobia. The first gay film, Pool Days, is about Justin's life in High School. Justin takes up a job as a lifeguard in a health club. He is constantly tempted by the undressed bodies of men in the locker rooms. An encounter with a female employee turns bad and he seeks support and guidance from a male Client. The second gay movie, A Friend of Dorothy, is about Winston who arrives in New York as a college freshman. He falls in love with his roommate but he only wishes that he is also gay. With help from a hometown friend he is able to balance his gay lifestyle. The final gay themed film is about Tom Peters' life back in High School when he came out of the closet. Tom falls for a tennis player Matt. Matt turns out to be homophobic and gets a girlfriend with whom they join a homophobic group of friends. Meanwhile Tom is constantly nagged by his mother to get a girlfriend.

THE LIVING END


The Living End is a 1992 gay movie about two homosexual men who are HIV positive. Luke accidentally kills two gay bashers in self defense and while fleeing the scene runs in front of Jon's car. Jon is still shocked by the HIV test results and so makes the choice of driving Luke away even though they are complete strangers. Jon reveals his health status to Luke and he is surprised to find out that Luke is also HIV positive. Several incidents make the two go on a road trip to explore the world as they had never before. The trip's objective is to make use of any party experience that comes their way.

THE STRANGER IN US


The Stranger In Us is a 2010 gay movie about a young gay man named Anthony. He arrives from a small town in Virginia to San Francisco with his older boyfriend Stephen. Life does not turn out as he expected when Stephen's outbursts of anger turn violent. Anthony is forced to move out and do temporary jobs here and there as he seeks shelter from homosexual strangers. He meets Gavin a very young hustler who shows him around and some survival tips. Their bond grows stronger and they form a steady gay relationship.

ORDINARY SINNER


Ordinary Sinner is a 2001 gay movie about Peter who has dropped out of a seminary and moved to a small town in Vermont. His childhood friend Alex is studying in college there. Alex introduces Peter to Rachel. Alex has a crush on Rachel but she seems more interested in Peter. Peter's faith failed because he was unable to prevent a gay teenager he was counseling at the seminary from killing a homophobic basher. He feels depressed and meaningless. A wave of homophobic attacks spreads across the campus influenced by a radical christian group. When one of their gay friends is killed in the attacks they pull together to uncover the murderer.

TO THE EXTREME


To the extreme is a 2000 gay film about Thomas who is a bisexual student. He spends much time partying and entertaining both girls and gay men. His outgoing lifestyle is supported by the trust fund his deceased parents left him. Life changes when Caroline his lover suddenly dies leaving behind her 13 year old son Gregoire. Thomas is forced by circumstances to take in Gregoire as no one is available to take care of him. Disapproving authorities step in to block him from taking in the boy because of his homosexual lifestyle. In this gay movie Thomas has the difficult task of deciding whether to fight to keep the boy or not.

THREE TO TANGO


Three To Tango is a 1999 gay movie about Oscar and Peter. Oscar is an aspiring architect and Peter who is gay is his business partner. They have just been given a big opportunity to complete the design of a multimillion dollar cultural center by a Chicago tycoon Charles Newman. They have however been pitched to compete with their rivals Decker and Strauss. Newman mistakes Oscar to be the gay one in one of their meetings and so asks him to keep an eye on his girlfriend Amy. Oscar is obviously straight and falls for Amy but he cannot reveal that he is not homosexual for the sake of his commissions. His dilemma worsens when his homosexual status is published in a business newspaper. He has a hard time convincing family and friends he is just pretending to be gay. At the final presentation of the design they are both paid their commissions but Oscar is further awarded Gay Professional Man of The Year Award. At the gay award ceremony Oscar reveals in his speech that he is actually not gay and that he is in love with Amy. Amy is enraged and Newman also. Newman's wife however convinces him to go with their design.

LEAVING METROPOLIS


Leaving Metropolis is a 2002 gay movie about a gay man and a straight married man who fall in love. David is a renown artist who decides to take up a job as a waiter for inspiration. He gets hired by the Main St. Diner owned by a couple Matt and Violet. The couple are surprised to discover David is famous after seeing his painting in the paper. David and Matt start hanging out and begin a secret homosexual affair. Matt is later forced by circumstances to reveal his gayness to Violet and they break up. Violet ends up selling the restaurant and leaving.

FLAWLESS


Flawless is a 1999 gay movie about Walter Koontz a very respected New York Police Department Officer. He lives in a downtown apartment with drag queen neighbors. One day he hears gunshots upstairs and while ascending to help suffers a stroke. It gives him poor speech and posture. Walter has to take speech therapy lessons from his drag queen neighbor Rusty much as he despises the behavior. They get along well but when Rusty reveals that he stole some money from the drug pusher who was responsible for gunshots upstairs they part ways angrily. Rusty plans to use the money for a gender change operation. One night after returning from a drag queen contest named flawless Rusty is accosted by criminals looking for the stolen cash. Walter hearing the commotion goes to save Rusty and gets shot. They however manage to scare away the criminals and an ambulance comes to rush Walter to hospital. While boarding the ambulance Rusty gives the paramedics the money to make sure Walter is alright. The two go on to become good friends despite Rusty's homosexuality.

THE BUBBLE


The Bubble is a 2006 gay movie about two men from Israel and Palestine who fall in love. Noam is an Israeli reservist working at a checkpoint. While on duty one day he eyes a Palestinian named Ashraf. Noam returns to his apartment in Tel Aviv which he shares with another gay man, Yali and a girl, Lulu. Ashraf comes to their apartment to give Noam his passport which fell down at the checkpoint. They fall in love and spend the night together. They agree for Ashraf to move in with them disguised as a Jew under the name Shimi and work at Yali's restaurant. He is however recognized by Lulu's former boyfriend and flees back to his family in Nablus. Noam is devastated by Ashraf's absence and refuses to leave his bed. When violence breaks out in Nablus, Noam and Lulu go looking for Ashraf disguised as journalists. They find him and the two men kiss again but they are seen by Jihad who is about to marry Ashraf's sister. Jihad is a Hamas militant and insists Ashraf marry his cousin of else reveal his homosexuality. Jihad plots a bombing in Tel Aviv and Yali is injured never to walk again. When Israel retaliates Ashraf's sister is killed in the bombing. Ashraf goes to Tel Aviv with a suicide belt and while at the cafe he worked Noam sees him. They both go outside and as they kiss on the street Ashraf explodes the belt killing them both.

TIMES HAVE BEEN BETTER


This is a 2006 gay movie about Jeremy a 33 year old gay man. His parents have no idea that he is a homosexual. Jeremy has two major announcements to make to his family. He just got a major promotion plus he is moving in with his boyfriend Marc. Jeremy's parents have always thought that they are liberal but they do not take in the news very well. They are shocked and the whole house it sent into confusion and conflict.

TOUCH OF PINK


Touch of Pink is a 2004 gay film about Alim. Alim is a gay Ismaili Muslim. He was born in Kenya but raised up in Toronto. He moves to London to get away from his conservative roots. The gay themed movie tells about his struggle with homosexuality. He has a hard time coming out to his mother and coping with his boyfriend Giles.

THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT


This is a 1994 gay themed film about drag queens. Anthony a Sydney based drag queen accepts to perform his act at a remote hotel in central Australia. He convinces his fellow drag queens to join him on the bus long bus trip. They nickname the bus Queen of the desert. On the road they come across friendly Aborigines, homophobic people and are even subjected to violence and vandalism. The bus also breaks down on the way and one of them is almost mutilated by a homophobic gang. Their personal lives continue to reveal themselves in the journey and at the hotel.

TRICK


Trick is a 1999 gay movie about Gabriel who gets attracted to a go-go dancer named Mark in a gay bar. They meet again at the subway that night and Gabriel plans to take him to his house for sex. Gabriel finds his roommate Rich is in with his girlfriend. They argue about who should have the apartment for the night and at the toss of a coin Gabriel looses. Gabriel tries to use a friend's apartment but it is also occupied for the night. They later settle for a gay bar where a drag queen talks badly of Gabriel in front of Mark. Gabriel leaves but Mark follows him and they resolve that issue. They later form a very strong bond apart from the one night stand which they planned.

MAURICE


Maurice is a 1987 British gay film about Maurice Hall who is attending Cambridge. He strikes homosexual relationships with Lord Risley and Clive Durham who are fellow students. Their relationships are subjected to secrecy and breaking up because of 20th Century British view of homosexuality even legally. They are scared when Lord Risley is six months hard labor for soliciting sex from an army officer. Clive thus breaks up with Maurice and marries a girl because of his mother's insistence. Maurice is heartbroken and seeks professional help severally to cure his homosexuality. During his visits to Clive's estate Maurice falls in love with Scudder the under-gamekeeper. Scudder is due to emigrate with his family to Argentina but he does not want to leave Maurice. Scudder leaves his family and plans to emigrate to stay with Maurice.

MAKING LOVE


Making Love is a 1982 gay movie about Zack Elliot who is a doctor and married to Claire a television executive. They have been happily married for 8 years but Zack has a secret. Zack has homosexual attractions towards other men and has been frequenting gay bars and picking up gay men though not for sex. He meets Bart, a gay novelist during a medical examination. Bart is fairly open with his sexuality but Zack still labels himself as curious. Zack has homosexual sex for the first time and his feelings towards Bart increase. His wife's trip on business gives Zack space to explore his homosexuality. Zack tells Claire about him gay feelings and she is very upset. They later agree on a divorce and part ways to live their lives as they wish.

WEDDING WARS


Wedding Wars is a 2006 gay comedy movie about gay marriage. It also includes politics and family issues. Shel is a party planner who is gay. He plans to organize his brother's wedding to Maggie the governor's daughter. Shel's brother Ben is the governor's campaign manager. Shel discovers that Ben is behind the governor's speech against gay marriage and decides to go on strike leaving the wedding plans in disarray. The strike spreads nationwide and the wedding is left in the hands of an inexperienced planner who makes a mess.

TORCH SONG TRILOGY


Torch Song Trilogy is a 1988 gay movie about Arnold a New York drag queen. He meets Ed a school teacher who is bisexual and they fall in love. Ed has however not accepted his homosexuality and leaves Arnold for a girlfriend named Laurel. During Christmas Arnold meets a male model called Alan and they fall in love. They apply to foster a gay teenager named David and it succeeds. They move to a bigger apartment but Alan is killed in a homophobic attack on that first day. Months later Arnold's mother visits and disapproves of his homosexuality and planned adoption of a gay boy. Arnold's mother later loosens up and Ed comes back into his life more stable and accepting that he is a homosexual.
